Queensland Championships - Day 7 Coach's Report
Day 7 Heats Liam Roberts was first in the pool today for Jamboree Heights, and swam himself into the final of the boys 15 years 200m Medley. Liam’s time of 2.22.49 was a second off his PB and he is looking good to improve on that time tonight. 90 minutes later, “Robbo” was back in the pool for the boys 15 years 100m Butterfly. Another PB for Liam by a couple of seconds, but not fast enough to make the final with Liam finishing as the 16th fastest QLDer for that event. Good luck to Liam tonight. Laura Rheinlander competed in her first State Titles this morning in the girls 12 years 100m Backstroke. Her smile was amazing and it matched the PB she swam. Laura’s time of 1.22.66 was a credit to all the hard work Laura has done over the past few years. Monica Feret swam a strong PB this morning in her one and only event, the girls 13 years 100m Backstroke. This is the third straight year Monica has competed in this event, and her PB time of 1.16.38 placed her around the middle of the field for her event. Monica can proudly say that she is still the fastest Feret in the family. Well done Monica. Michael Canham swam his 100m Backstroke event in a PB time of 1.07.44. Michael will race out of Lane 1 again tonight in the boys 13 years 100m Backstroke final. Jye Cornwell swam his fourth event of the championship this morning in the boys 14 years 200m Freestyle. Although this is not Jye’s preferred event, he still swam it like a man on a mission, and smashed his PB by 6 seconds. Jye’s time of 2.05.93 was just outside the final and placed Jye 18th overall. Our final swimmer of the morning and making it 100% PB’s for the Jamboree Heights swimmers today was Jake Buckley. Jake’s 2.48.97 in the boys 14 years 200m Breaststroke completed a nice day for our team and also placed Jake as the 21st QLD for this event.
Day 7 Finals Liam Roberts swam strong to post another PB tonight in the boys 15 years 200m Medley. Liam’s time of 2.21.41 placed Liam 8th QLDer. Well Done Liam. Michael Canham swam bravely tonight in his ninth and final individual race of the championships. Michael improved on his PB to 1.06.93 in the boys 13 years 100m Backstroke, and was an agonising 0.24 off winning the bronze medal. Well done Michael. It was a fantastic week of swimming by the Jamboree Heights swimmers and I hope you all enjoyed my daily wrap ups. It is such a massive week, with lots of cheers and even a few tears, but we made it to the end and should all be extremely proud of our efforts. |
